DAY1: Istanbul - (by plane) Izmir airport: Ephesus - Selcuk: 09:00am drive to Selcuk (takes 1 hr drive time and 80 km). First visit to Ephesus. Ephesus the city dedicated to Artemis, the best preserved ancient city of Asia Minor with its majestic theater, marble road, Temple of Artemis, the Church of the Virgin Mary or the Double Church, the library of Celsus, the stadium, the lecture hall. Then drive to The home of Virgin Mary on a hill top, where she lived out her last days is now visited by over a hundred thousand pilgrims each year. The pilgrims drink the water of the sacred spring, meditate and pray for health at this ancient spot of worship. Pope Paul VI in 1967 and Pope John Paul II in 1979 and Pope Benedict XVI celebrated Mass at the House of the Virgin Mary in Ephesus, Wednesday Nov. 29, 2006. Transfer to hotel in Izmir. (L)
DAY 2: Pergamon: At 08:00am We transfer you drive to Pergamon, Upon arrival to Pergamum visit to Aesculapium, ancient medical center built in the name of Aeusculapis, the God of medicine Lunch and continue to Pergamum Acropolis, visit Athena and Trojan Temples - Temple of Zeus - Temple of Dionysus - Gymnasium of Youth - Odeon - Library - Agora - Great Theatre - and Roman Bath. Drive to our Hotel in Izmir or Kusadasi. . (B,L)
DAY 3: We depart to Pamukkale (3 hrs drive time) where we visit Hierapolis and Thermal pool. Have a tour of the spectacular natural site of Pamukkale. Its hot thermal springs of calcium spill over the plateau's edge creating dazzling white formations called Cotton Castles. Visit the ruins of Hierapolis which also was the home of Papias and Epicitus, early Christian writers and Philip the Evangelist.
